Description

Neptra® contains an exclusive combination of three active ingredients. Its efficacy has been demonstrated against mixed infections of strains of bacteria sensitive to florfenicol (Staphylococcus pseudintermedius) and fungi sensitive to terbinafine (Malassezia pachydermatis), both commonly associated with external otitis in dogs.

FORMULA:
1 dose (1 ml) contains:
Active substances:
Florfenicol: 16.7mg
Terbinafine hydrochloride: 16.7 mg, equivalent to terbinafine base: 14.9 mg
Mometasone furoate: 2.2 mg

Indications of use:

For the treatment of acute external canine otitis or acute exacerbations of recurrent otitis caused by mixed infections of strains of bacteria sensitive to florfenicol (Staphylococcus pseudintermedius) and fungi sensitive to terbinafine (Malassezia pachydermatis).

Contraindications:

    Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substances, to other corticosteroids or to any of the excipients.
    Do not use in case of perforation of the eardrum.
    Do not use in dogs with generalized demodicosis.
    Do not use in case of pregnancy or in breeding animals.

 Warnings:
Bacterial and fungal otitis is usually secondary to other conditions. In animals with a history of recurrent otitis externa, underlying causes of the condition, such as allergy or anatomical conformation of the ear, should be addressed to avoid ineffective treatment with a veterinary drug.
In cases of parasitic otitis, an adequate acaricide treatment should be carried out.
Ears should be cleaned before administration of the product. It is recommended not to repeat the cleaning of the ear until 28 days after the administration of the product. In clinical trials, only saline was used for cleaning the ears before starting treatment.
This combination is intended for the treatment of acute otitis in confirmed mixed infections caused by florfenicol-sensitive Staphylococcus pseudintermedius and terbinafine-sensitive Malassezia pachydermatis.
